# Phishing Awareness

Phishing is a type of scam where the attacker sends a malicious email trying to extract money or sensitive information. The email may contain malware files or links urging you to open them. They might try to impersonate someone and ask for personal information or offer services. Shopify store owners are common targets, and scammers may impersonate theme developers like us to make their messages appear legitimate.

If you've submitted a support request, you can expect an answer from:

[paloalto@presidiocreative.com](mailto:)

Our official domains also include emails ending with presidiocreative.com or presidiodev.com. Emails directly reaching out to you or from public email services such as Gmail, Yahoo, Apple mail, or Hotmail should be considered as potential phishing attempts.

If you receive an unexpected email claiming to be from the Presidio Team, please verify that it was sent from [paloalto@presidiocreative.com](mailto:) before responding, clicking links, or providing any information.

#### How to Report a Phishing Email <a href="#how-to-report-a-phishing-email" id="how-to-report-a-phishing-email"></a>

If you receive a suspicious email, the best course of action is to **report it as phishing or fraudulent** and then delete it. Reporting phishing helps email providers identify and block similar messages.

**Gmail**

Open the suspicious email, click the three dots (⋮) next to the Reply button, and select **Report phishing**.

**Outlook**

Select the suspicious email, click **Report** in the toolbar (or right-click the message), and choose **Report phishing**.

**Apple Mail / iCloud**

You can forward the phishing email to [**reportphishing@apple.com**](mailto:reportphishing@apple.com), then delete it.

**Other email providers**

You can also forward suspected phishing emails to [**reportphishing@apwg.org**](mailto:reportphishing@apwg.org), which is used by the Anti-Phishing Working Group to collect phishing reports.
